Why it does not pay to wait
Old cloth, knob-and-tube, and aluminum branch wiring gets brittle and loose with age and heat. It works right up until a connection arcs inside a wall. It is also why insurers drop or refuse to write policies. Waiting risks both the house and the coverage on it.
